Opening Night Preview Party
Thursday March 4, 7-10 PM (restricted 19+)
Be among the first to purchase and view original works of art from top independent artists. Enjoy an evening of art, music, and decadent treats! Party with DJ and radio host Denise Benson. Voted 'Toronto's Top DJ' more than ten times over in NOW, Eye and Xtra! reader's polls, Benson constantly has her ear to the ground for fresh new sounds. After 10 pm the party will continue around the corner at the Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West) for the official after-party!
A portion of the ticket proceeds from the Opening Night Party will be donated to SKETCH, a charitable organization that creates art- making opportunities for young people who are street-involved and homeless or who are considered to be at risk.
Untapped! Emerging Artist Competition
The Artist Project is proud to support the development of young artists through the Untapped Emerging Artist Competition. Selected from hundreds of applications, 18 of the best up-and-coming artists have been invited to participate in this special exhibition.
Installation Alley presented by Heineken
New for 2010! Explore large-scale sculpture and installations! See the work of 6 "Untapped" artists and the winner of last year's People's Choice Award, Faye Carmella Mullen. Join in the fun and help create a new installation in the Heineken Project Space. Using live drawing, collage and printmaking, artists Patrick Thompson and Alexa Hatanaka will create an evolving mural/installation throughout the show. Visitors will not only have the opportunity to observe the creative process, but will learn art making techniques and contribute to the installation!
The Queen Competition
In celebration of our new home at the Queen Elizabeth Building, we have asked our talented exhibitors to create a piece of art based on the theme “Queen”. We can’t wait to see what they will create! Winning artists will receive $500, $250, and $100 for their entries. Be sure to cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award!

Median Contemporary Art Projects and will showcase the work of cutting edge new media and video artists . Median Contemporary is dedicated to increasing exposure for new media and installation based art. Once located in the heart of the west Queen West neighbourhood, Median is now an online gallery that mounts annual exhibitions in temporary pop up style spaces, thus allowing us to stay true to their mandate of showing the most exciting and experimental work possible.
